Based in Norwalk, Connecticut and founded by 27 year old Arthur Tauck in 1925. While most other escorted tour operators were founded overseas, Tauck Tours became the first tour operator to be issued a federal tour broker’s license by the US Government. In fact, Arthur Tauck, a traveling salesman took six (6) paying guests on one of his sales trips through New England & Southeastern Canada. The trip itself was 1,100 miles in length, it took six (6) full days to complete, & cost each guest $69.00; the mornings were spent traveling & sightseeing, while the afternoons & evenings were utilized rest rest while Mr. Tauck made his sales calls. Had it not been for the “word of mouth” endorsements Mr. Tauck received by his six (6) paid guests, Arthur Tauck would have more than likely continued being a traveling salesman & there would probably not have been a Tauck World Discovery today…Fast Forward 88 Years... Today, Tauck World Discovery provides nearly 100 different All-Inclusive journeys in more than 60 countries worldwide and mostly still by word of mouth. Types of travel Tauck offers are: Escorted Group Tours (Tauck World Discovery), Small Ship Cruising (Tauck Small Ship Cruising & Tauck River Cruising), Family Vacations (Tauck Bridges), and Culturious, which offers immersive exploration in smaller geographical regions around the globe. Another avenue (of sorts) Tauck has taken is with renowned documentary filmmakers, Ken Burns & Dayton Duncan to create new land journeys that explore events such as the The Kentucky Derby, Celebration of Roses, Baseball, Civil War & National Parks (Tauck Events).
The newest way to travel with Tauck is the best way to become actively immersed in the local culture. Small groups averaging 20 culturally curious travelers, Culturious active travel explores Western USA, Tuscany, Venice, Provence, the Loire Valley and Costa Rica. Imagine living la dolce vita in an Italian villa; dining on meals exquisitely prepared by a French “Rising Chef”; waking to the ocean surf from your tropical suite in a beachfront reserve; a wildlife safari in Yellowstone with a naturalist... Stretch your legs on hikes, bike rides, rafting and kayak adventures... your taste buds at vineyards, farmers’ markets, picnics, barbecues and pub crawls... and your mind at art lectures, artisan workshops, insider talks and history walks. Culturious is designed for those seeking a small-group, active travel experience. And the rewards are priceless.
