A brief sightseeing tour introduces you to the city of London before we officially welcome you with a cocktail reception and dinner aboard a riverboat moored on the banks of the River Thames. Overnight: Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, London, England Meals Included: Dinner Day 2: Windsor Castle / Westminster Abbey Journey into the countryside this morning for a visit to Windsor Castle, home to British royalty for more than 900 years; see St. George’s Chapel, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, and, schedule permitting, the State Apartments. Return to London for a guided tour of Westminster Abbey. One of the most beautiful buildings in London, it has been the burial place of Britain’s monarchs since the 11th century. Tonight, dine in the restaurant on the 56th floor of Montparnasse Tower – the centuries-old city layout, as the lights of Paris come on, will be long remembered! Overnight: InterContinental Paris Le Grand Hotel, Paris, France Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 6: Versailles & Montmartre 17th-century Château de Versailles was built during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King”; visit the State Apartments. Lunch at a charming Parisian restaurant is hosted by the granddaughter of Gaston Leroux, author of The Phantom of the Opera; it is followed by a walking tour of Montmartre. Set high on a hill overlooking the city, the area has attracted writers, poets and artists for centuries. The remainder of the day is free to pursue your own special interests.
