| Embark on a royal journey through time in two of Europe’s most exciting capital cities. Visit London’s majestic castles, steeped in the history and pageantry of centuries-old traditions; and soar high above the River Thames on the world’s highest observation wheel. A rail journey under the English Channel speeds you to Paris, where the Eiffel Tower, Versailles Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the artists of Montmartre welcome you with a daily dose of joie de vivre. Day 1 – Arrive London / A private double-decker bus ride Tour begins: 3:00 PM, Langham Hotel, London. Welcome to London, one of Europe’s most delightful capital cities. A transfer is included from London’s Heathrow Airport to the Langham Hotel, London. You will be spending the next four nights in the heart of the city, minutes from landmark sights. Board a private double-decker bus for a fun-filled sightseeing excursion this afternoon – it’s a perfect introduction to some of the most famous sights in London. Join us for a welcome reception and dinner tonight as you get to know your fellow travelers. Meals D Day 2 – Tower of London and a ride on the London Eye Meet an English “Beefeater” today before exploring the infamous Tower of London – it has served as both a castle and prison through the centuries! See the Bloody Tower and the priceless Crown Jewels, then get set for an exciting speedboat adventure on the Thames River. You will experience a different view of the city from your glass pod on the celebrated London Eye; the world’s highest observation wheel takes you 450 feet above the Thames River. Meals BL Day 3 – Windsor Castle and a night at the theatre See how English royalty live on a visit to Windsor Castle; built by William the Conqueror in 1070, it has been home to the kings and queens of England for over 900 years! When Queen Elizabeth is in residence, a flag called the Royal Standard flies from the Round Tower; at other times, you’ll see the Union Flag. View Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, built in the early 1920s; this exquisitely detailed miniature palace even has a tiny wine cellar that contains real wine. London’s West End is the largest theatre district in the world, dating back to 1663. There is nothing more traditionally English than a night at the theatre, and there is no more traditional English musical than Oliver; your family will make a trip to Drury Lane this evening for a performance. Meals B Day 4 – Explore a famous London museum Take a guided tour of the British Museum, chronicling two million years of history and culture. The museum has grown from a collection of private manuscripts in 1753 to the most comprehensive treasury of art and artifacts in the world and is housed in 2 1/2 miles of galleries! Explore Winston Churchill’s historic Cabinet War Rooms on an optional visit to the Churchill Museum after lunch or experience the city as you please for the remainder of the day. Meals BL Day 5 – Travel First Class aboard Eurostar to Paris Travel First Class aboard the high-speed Eurostar train today for a journey that takes you from London to Paris in just two hours and fifteen minutes, the fastest time ever, with an amazing ride under the English Channel. We’ll introduce you to the city on a sightseeing tour, including the Eiffel Tower, before checking you into your Parisian hotel, located on the edge of the Tuileries Garden. Dinner tonight is at Montparnasse Tower, boasting phenomenal city views. Meals BLD Day 6 – Tour the palace at Château de Versailles Standing about an hour outside of Paris, Château de Versailles, one of the most extravagant palaces in Europe, virtually glitters with gold! During a guided tour this morning, you won’t be surprised to learn that Louis XIV spent a lot of money building this royal residence – it would cost more than $2 billion to build today. Hear stories about life in the palace, and stroll through its beautiful formal gardens. You’ll be back in Paris before lunch, where you can explore the city sights as you wish – you may want to check out Mona Lisa’s enigmatic smile at the Musée du Louvre, walk down the Champs-Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe, or stop in a traditional café for a sweet confection. Meals B Day 7 – Visit Notre Dame and explore Montmartre Built on the site of a Roman temple, Notre Dame has been witness to the greatest events in Parisian history from its perch in the heart of the Ile de la Cité and the River Seine since the 12th century. You’ll have a chance to tour this majestic Gothic cathedral with a local expert today, seeing the grotesque gargoyles that peer down from ledges on the façade of the building, as well as the bell tower made famous by Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Then it’s off for a visit to hilltop Montmartre, where for centuries Parisian street artists have flocked to draw, paint and sketch under the shadow of the grandiose Sacre-Coeur. A guided walking tour offers an opportunity to see them at work. Enjoy free time to explore this afternoon before we treat you to a private farewell dinner cruise on the River Seine. Bid au revoir to Paris under the glow of the city lights tonight. Meals BD Day 8 – Journey home Tour Ends: Paris. Fly home anytime.
