Day 2: Mount Rushmore and a night at a western ranch
You’ll see two of the world’s largest sculptures today, nestled in the Black Hills. Nothing quite compares with your visit to Mt. Rushmore National Monument, where you’ll see in person four famous presidential faces carved into rock – George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt – and learn how 400 workers spent 14 years creating the dream of sculptor Gutzon Borglum. View the work-in-progress at Crazy Horse Memorial, one of the world’s largest mountain carvings, and continue on your journey through stunning canyons into Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains for an overnight and a real western ranch experience at The Ranch at Ucross. The ranch offers lots of activities for family fun – take a horseback ride*; catch a big Brown or Rainbow in Piney Creek or in the ranch’s stocked trout pond; relax by the heated pool; pitch horseshoes; or hunt for frogs by the pond. A campfire in the evening caps a perfect day!
Overnight: The Ranch at Ucross, WY

Day 3: Visit Cody, "Rodeo Capital of the World"
Today’s drive through Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains includes some pretty amazing sights – watch for cowboys at work in the high altitude grasslands, a spectacular waterfall, all kinds of wildflowers, and deep canyons that make you see how this area was a real part of the “wild west.” Step back to the days of the Old West in historic Cody, founded by frontiersman Buffalo Bill Cody in 1896. Learn more about his quest to lure settlers to the western frontier at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, home to the world’s largest collection of artifacts depicting the culture, history and art of the American West. Stunts will be performed at the rodeo tonight by steer wrestlers, buckin’ broncos, barrel riders and rodeo clowns – they put on a memorable show!
Overnight: Holiday Inn Cody at Buffalo Bill Village, Cody, WY
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4: Stay in the heart of Yellowstone National Park
Spend the morning exploring Cody on your own before departing for Yellowstone National Park for a two-night stay. Your inside-the-park accommodations are just steps away from Old Faithful Geyser – which shoots its plume of steam skyward just about every hour! If you wish, take a geyser walk with a park ranger, or check out other ranger programs; have dinner at your leisure tonight, enjoying the natural treasures of Yellowstone after the day’s crowds depart.

Meals Included: Breakfast, dinner

Day 5: Explore America's oldest national park
Go exploring with a local expert who offers special insights on Yellowstone’s “restless” geology as you see some of its most famous geologic wonders; the park boasts 10,000 hot springs and two-thirds of all the geysers in the world! Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 6: Spend two nights in Grand Teton National Park
Depart Yellowstone for Jackson, Wyoming, and Grand Teton National Park. As you approach the park, your heart will be captured by your first sight of the magnificent Grand Tetons jutting skyward. You’ll have the unique opportunity on Cowboy Country to volunteer with park experts on a service project, made possible by Tauck’s long-standing relationship with America’s national parks – an experience that you and your family will long remember.
