Day 2: Raft down the Snake River and explore the Grand TetonsMarvel at the incredible scenery of Grand Teton National Park,
including sparkling Jenny Lake, before setting off on a rafting
adventure* down the Snake River. Along the way, your guide will help
you spot the beavers, eagles, elks and other animals that live in the
park. Spend some time in the historic town of Jackson and check out
some of the fun things to do at Jackson Lake Lodge. During your Cowboy Country
journey, you'll also have a unique chance to work along with fellow
guests and park experts on a special service project as part of Tauck's
award-winning on-tour volunteer program in America's national parks.

Day 3: A close-up look inside Yellowstone National ParkToday you'll travel from the Grand Tetons to America's first and most
famous national park, spectacular Yellowstone – where your "home away
from home" for the next two nights is just steps away from the famous
Old Faithful Geyser! Keep an eye out for Yellowstone's diverse wildlife
as you explore some of the famous features of the park -- whose
geologic wonders include two-thirds of all the geysers in the world –
with your Tauck Director.

Day 4: Mud pots and more on a perfect Yellowstone vacation dayStart your day in remarkable Yellowstone with a wildlife-spotting walk;
endangered species from whooping cranes to gray wolves are protected
here. See some of the 10,000 hot springs within the park, as well as
bubbling pools of mud and volcanic calderas with an expert local guide;
and, a short distance from your lodge, watch mighty Old Faithful shoot
its plume of steam high into the air just about every hour – a
highlight of any Yellowstone vacation!

Day 5: Learn about Buffalo Bill's West and go to a rodeoSay goodbye to Yellowstone and head across Wyoming to historic Cody,

American West at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, where multiple
museums each tell a different side of the story. Have a western dinner
and then thrill to bucking broncos, steer wrestlers, calf ropers and
barrel riders at a real western rodeo tonight.

Day 6: Bighorn Mountains and The Ranch at UcrossJourney through Wyoming's beautiful Bighorn Mountains today, past deep
canyons, vast grasslands, and blankets of wildflowers to The Ranch at
Ucross, a real working ranch, for a memorable overnight stay. Ranch
experiences include an opportunity to go horseback riding*, fish for
trout in Piney Creek or a stocked trout pond, swim in the pool, pitch
some horseshoes or even hunt for frogs! Your time at the ranch is
certain to be one of the highlights of your Grand Teton and Yellowstone
vacation; top the night off with an old-fashioned campfire.

Day 7: A tale of two carvings – Crazy Horse and Mount RushmoreDepart the ranch and head for the Black Hills of South Dakota. Look up
in wonder at the Crazy Horse Memorial, where you'll view the work in
progress as artisans carve the likeness of the famous Lakota warrior
out of the mountain; when completed, it will be the largest rock
sculpture in the world. Then it's on to view the towering stone
portraits of four American presidents at Mount Rushmore, one of the
must-see landmark sights in the U.S. Join us for a farewell dinner this
evening, and share delightful memories of your Cowboy Country Grand Teton and Yellowstone vacation.

Day 2 – Raft down the Snake River
You will have the unique opportunity on Cowboy Country to volunteer with park experts on a service project, made possible by Tauck’s long-standing relationship with America’s national parks. Tauck received a special Presidential Award for this on-tour volunteer program in the summer of 2006. Explore postcard-perfect sights in the park, including sparkling Jenny Lake, and get set for a rafting adventure* on the scenic Snake River; your guide introduces you to this wildlife-rich ecosystem, helping you spot the animals that make their homes here, including beaver, eagles, elk and even moose. Day 3 – Stay inside Yellowstone National Park
Journey to Yellowstone National Park today where your inside-the-park accommodations are just steps away from Old Faithful Geyser – which shoots its plume of steam skyward just about every hour! Day 4 – Explore America’s oldest national park
You’ll start your day with local experts who shed some light on the park’s abundant wildlife. Yellowstone National Park protects five threatened or endangered species, including the gray wolf, the whooping crane, the lynx, the bald eagle and the grizzly bear. This afternoon, go exploring with an expert who offers special insights about the “restless” geology of the park, from its legendary trout streams and thundering waterfalls to its gurgling mud pots and volcanic calderas. With 10,000 hot springs, two-thirds of all geysers in the world, and lush forests, Yellowstone National Park inspires awe at every turn – and it is a photographer’s paradise. Meals BLD
Day 5 – Visit Cody, “Rodeo Capital of the World”
Step back in time to the days of the Old West in historic Cody, founded by frontiersman Buffalo Bill Cody in 1896, the best-known spokesman for the New West. Learn more about his quest to lure settlers to the western frontier at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, home to the world’s largest collection of artifacts depicting the culture, history and art of the American West. Admission to his famous Wild West Show in the late 1800s was 10 cents for children and 25 cents for adults! Stunts will be performed at the rodeo tonight by steer wrestlers, buckin’ broncos, barrel riders and rodeo clowns – they put on a memorable show! Meals BD
Day 6 – Spend a night at a western ranch
Today’s drive through Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains includes some pretty amazing sights – watch for cowboys at work in the high altitude grasslands, a spectacular waterfall, all kinds of wildflowers, and deep canyons that make you see how this area was a real part of the “wild west.” Your destination today is The Ranch at Ucross, where you can get a taste of cowboy life during an overnight stay. The ranch offers many activities for family fun – take a leisurely horseback ride*; catch a big Brown or Rainbow in Piney Creek or the ranch’s stocked trout pond; relax by the heated pool; pitch horseshoes; or hunt for frogs by the pond. Day 7 – See Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore
You’ll see some of the world’s largest sculptures today, nestled in the Black Hills of South Dakota. View the work-in-progress at Crazy Horse Memorial, which is one of the world’s largest mountain carvings, before a special visit to Mt. Rushmore National Monument. Nothing compares to seeing in person the four famous presidential faces carved into rock – George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. You’ll learn all about how 400 workers spent 14 years creating the dream of sculptor Gutzon Borglum. The journey comes to an end this evening with a farewell dinner. Meals BLD
Day 8 – Journey Home
