Day 1: Arrive Cairo
Welcome to Egypt! A transfer is included from Cairo International Airport to Mena House Oberoi. You’ll have no doubt you’ve embarked on a journey to remember when you look out from your room... and see the Pyramids of Giza there before you!
Overnight: Mena House Oberoi, Cairo, Egypt
Meals Included: A snack in your hotel room upon late arrival

Day 2: Giza: The Pyramids, Sphinx & Solar Boat
At Giza, the Sphinx sits near the Great Pyramid; after meeting our Egyptologist, you’ll see them both today... plus have your photo taken atop a camel* at the Pyramids! Check out a remarkably preserved cedarwood boat at the Solar Boat Museum. Join us for a welcome reception followed by dinner tonight.

Day 3: Special Egyptian Museum Visit in Cairo
Gain insights on a changing Egypt from a local expert, then see artifacts illustrating 5,000 years of history on a special early-opening guided visit to Cairo’s Egyptian Museum with our Egyptologist. Walk through Old Cairo with a local guide; visit a mosque and explore the bazaar. Tonight’s sound and light show, set against the Pyramids and the Sphinx, is dazzling!

Day 4: Memphis, Sakkara and Dahshur
Take a good look at some of Egypt’s oldest antiquities on an excursion from Cairo to ancient Memphis, the first capital of Egypt’s “Old Kingdom”; see the statue of Ramesses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. Learn how ancient pyramid design developed over the centuries when you view the early Step Pyramid of Djoser and visit the mound-like Pyramid of Teti in Sakkara, and tour the royal tombs of the necropolis of Dahshur.

Day 5: Abu Simbel and the Sahara / Embark Nile Adventurer
Fly via private charter to Abu Simbel, where the gigantic temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari dwarf you. Travel through the Sahara to Aswan for a look at the Aswan High Dam; board the Nile Adventurer for your three-night Nile cruise. Ride a private boat to see the Philae Temple; return for welcome cocktails hosted by the Captain, followed by dinner.

Day 6: Cruise the Nile to Kom Ombo & Edfu
Sail to Kom Ombo to visit its double temple, and have tea at a replica of a Nubian village. After a barbecue lunch topside, continue to Edfu and the Temple of Horus; its walls are a textbook of mythology and history. Don traditional garb for a special Egyptian Night dinner followed by music and dancing tonight.

Day 7: Luxor's Temples, a Carriage Ride and More
Site of ancient Thebes, Luxor is an incredible “open-air museum”; your Egyptologist leads visits to the Temple of Karnak and the Luxor Museum. A private horse-drawn carriage whisks you to tour the lit-up Temple of Luxor; enjoy farewell cocktails, dinner and a show during your final night aboard Nile Adventurer.

Day 8: In the Valleys of the Kings & Queens
Following an optional morning hot air balloon flight (an additional $175), disembark in Luxor. Head to the Valley of the Kings to enter the tombs of King Tut and others, then to the Valley of the Queens and Medinet Habu. Sail aboard a traditional felucca at sunset; dine at your choice of restaurants at the hotel.

Day 9: Fly to Jordan for a Wadi Rum Excursion
After a private charter flight to Aqaba, Jordan – where lunch overlooks the Red Sea – Tauck takes you on an excursion to Wadi Rum, home to lunar-like dunes and towering sandstone cliffs; exploring these stunning landscapes by four-wheel-drive vehicle is an absolutely unforgettable experience! Journey through the desert to the iconic archaeological site of Petra.

Day 10: Incredible Petra & a Bedouin Restoration
A passage through a narrow canyon, the Siq leads to yet another breathtaking moment – your first glimpse of the ancient Nabataean city of Petra, carved out of the sandstone cliffs around 6 BC. Explore the site on foot and via horse cart, including the towering Khazneh (Treasury), the Royal Tombs, an amphitheatre that once seated 8,000, and numerous temples and tombs. Have dinner this evening at Taybet Zaman, a restored hilltop Bedouin village.

Day 11: Along the Jordan to the Dead Sea
Thousands of years of biblical history reveal themselves along the Kings’ Highway at sites on the east bank of the River Jordan including Mt. Nebo and a church dedicated to Moses. Try traditional Jordanian foods for lunch; visit St. George’s Church to view a mosaic map of biblical sites en route to your Dead Sea spa resort.

Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 12: Resort Relaxation or a trip to Jerash
Spend a relaxing day at your resort or set off on an excursion to Jerash, site of one of the best-preserved ancient Roman cities in the Middle East. Wander among its fine temples, squares, arches, theatres, baths and city walls. Tonight, cap your Tauck journey with a festive farewell reception and dinner.

Day 13: Journey Home
Tour ends: Jordan. A transfer is included from the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea to the Queen Alia International Airport (approximately 1¼ hours) – allow 3½ hours for flight check-in. Most international flights depart early in the morning; Tauck can arrange an extra night at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea after the conclusion of your tour – ask at booking.
